Navigators for a Healthy Louisiana Partners with Out2Enroll
Navigators for a Healthy Louisiana are federally-certified individuals who are licensed by the Louisiana Department of Insurance. Their role is to serve as in-person assisters for those seeking information and assistance enrolling in affordable health insurance through the federal Marketplace. Our Navigators recognize that the lack of access to affordable, comprehensive health insurance is an issue that has long been ignored. LGBT people are far more likely to be uninsured than the rest of the population, but health reform has provided a significant opportunity for LGBT people to access affordable healthcare for themselves and their families. Now, the Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage builds on improved access to coverage that ACA has offered from the first day of its inception.
To ensure Louisiana’s LGBT population has access to information specific to their needs, the Navigators for a Healthy Louisiana program has partnered with Out2Enroll, a national initiative that works with assisters across the country who are ready to support LGBT people and their families in signing up for health insurance. Navigators offer free, confidential assistance to Louisiana’s LGBT community in setting up Marketplace accounts, choosing qualified health plans, learning about preventive health services, and working with complex enrollment issues while providing consumers with a welcoming, inclusive, and affirming environment.
